The site of Kaineriyama Quarry (Oya History Museum)

The underground quarry site under the museum is a huge underground space with an area of about 20,000 square meters. This space was made by quarrying Oya stone since 1919 and at present it is open to the public as a history museum. This museum received Cool Japan Award in 2017.

| Access | ※ Access from Tohoku Expressway: About 20 minutes (13 km) by car from Kanuma IC, about 12 minutes (8 km) from Utsunomiya IC Access form Kitakanto Expressway: About 40 minutes (20 km) by car from Utsunomiya/ Kaminokawa IC, about 30 minutes (18 km) from Mibu IC ※ Bus Routes Take a bus bound for Oya Tateiwa from Bus Stop 6 at JR Utsunomiya Station West Exit. About 30 mins. Take a bus bound for Oya Tateiwa from Tobu Ekimae Bus Stop at Tobu Utsunomiya Station. About 20 mins. Get off at Museum Entrance bus stop. About 5 minutes’ walk. Oya tourist one day pass is recommended for visitors using route buses. You can get on and off at any bus stops on the route and get various discounts. You can get this ticket at either JR Utsunomiya Station’s commuter pass center or at the front desk of Utsunomiya Tobu Hotel Grande. |
